Website Usage

This website has grown to a considerable size with over 100 pages. Having so many articles requires that they are well organised, allowing simple navigation and information of interest to be found easily.

The following facilities may be used depending on personal preference.

MOST RECENT CONTENT
Pages are available in a date ordered archive. The archive is organised into pages of ten items with the most recent appearing first. The first page also comprises the outgoing RSS newsfeed.

At the bottom of each page << Previous Page and/or Next Page >> controls are provided to allow other pages for that month to be displayed.

Although intended for regular visitors to quickly see what is new, it is sometimes necessary to add new items in a non-chronological order to maintain a more logical sort order so it is not totally reliable.

CATEGORIES
All related articles are arranged into categories and sub-categories.

As with the Archive, articles are organised into pages of ten and at the bottom of each page << Previous Page and/or Next Page >> controls are provided to allow other pages for that category to be displayed.

SEARCH
The search facility allows articles to be displayed that contain the entered ‘search text’ after clicking the ‘Find’ button. Where multiple ‘search texts’ are provided, only articles that contain all of them are displayed. If ‘search texts’ are required to be together, they may be enclosed in quotes. ‘Search texts’ are not case-sensitive and need not be complete words.

Example:
“Harry Smith” tramway

Would group and display all articles that contain ‘Harry’ and ‘Smith’ as consecutive words together with ‘tramway’ anywhere else within the article.

All ‘Search texts’ are highlighted in different colours for each. Once again, articles are organised into pages of ten and at the bottom of each page << Previous Page and/or Next Page >> controls are provided to allow other pages for that result to be displayed.
